Q:  How can I get to DCIFF and DCIFM venue at the City Museum of Washington, DC?
A:  
Th
is year's venue for the DCIFF and DCIFM is conveniently located three blocks away from
the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metro stop on the Red Line or two blocks away from the
Mt. Vernon Square-Convention Center Metro stop on the Green and Yellow lines.

a) Updates: We request that you keep visiting the website (www.dciff.org) for the latest information.

 

b) Benefits:

•  VIP Pass, which entitles you to free access to all festival, seminar, market/video library, VIP lounge
and other festival related events. (This is non-transferable and is granted only to the director of the film.

•  Welcome Package (includes catalog, t-shirt, etc)

•  1 Screening of your film during the festival

•  2 additional complimentary tickets to your screening

•  1 additional complimentary ticket to Opening and Closing night ceremony, film and reception.
(This must be reserved by February 23)

 

c) Arrangements for your screening:

•  Screening tape or print: Please send your tape or print to the festival by February 15th .
Send print to: DCIFF 2950 Van Ness Street, NW, Suite 728 , Washington , DC 20008 .

•  When can I pick up my tape or print: You can pick up tapes and films 1 hour after your screening.
There are no exchanges less than 24 hours prior to screening

 

d) Discussions, Press conferences and panels about my film:

- Please confirm your dates that you will be present at the festival (regional filmmakers, also please
let us know), so that we can coordinate with the press.

•  Please arrive at a minimum 30 minutes before your film session. We strongly recommend that you
arrive at least 1 day prior to your screening to allow for registration, and orientation.

•  You will be asked to participate in an informal Press conference 30 minutes before your film.

•  After your screening, you will be asked to prepare a 1 minute description on “Why you did your film”

•  Q & A will be held in the grand hall with the general public.

•  For the Closing night Reception , we ask that you prepare a speech that you will send to the festival
( filmmakers@dciff.org ), that you give to a representative in case you win an award or will be read by
a DCIFF representative.

 

e) Where to go once I get to Washington , DC :

•  On March 2, please go to the Avalon Theatre ( 5612 Connecticut Avenue ). for the Opening Night
Gala, please arrive 30 minutes before the screening to pick up your 2 complimentary tickets to the
festival. Your welcome package (with VIP pass and information) will be available as of March 3rd
at the City Museum .

•  As of March 3 – 13, please go to the City Museum of Washington , DC (801 k street, NW at
Mount Vernon Square Metro: Gallery Place Chinatown or Convention Center). The DCIFF office
at the City Museum will open on Thursday, March3rd. The DCIFF at Van Ness Street offices
will be closed
and all staff will be only available at the City Museum .
There will be no one at the Van Ness offices.

 

f) Where are the DCIFF Offices:

•  From March 2 – 14 th , the DCIFF offices will be at City Museum of Washington , DC
(801 k street, NW at Mount Vernon Square Metro: Gallery Place Chinatown or Convention Center)

 

g) Where do I pick up my VIP Pass : Each film will be granted ONE VIP (non-transferable) pass.
No exceptions. The VIP Pass entitles you to free access to all Festival, seminar, tradeshow and
market/video library and other related events. In addition, you will receive 2 complimentary
tickets to your screening

 

h) What is in my Welcome package: The welcome package is given ONLY at the festival.

Your Welcome package will include:

•  a certificate to pick up your VIP Pass and your complimentary tickets to your session.

•  1 catalog

•  1 t-shirt

•  A Schedule of Events

•  List of distributors

 

i) What Awards will I be competing for:

The following awards will be presented at the Closing ceremony.

•  Audience Award for Feature, Short, Animation and Documentary

•  Visionary Award to the film of a political or social level that can provoke change in our society

•  Washington , DC Filmmaker Award: Awarded to the film the DC Filmmaker in competition for
outstanding achievement

•  Cine Latino Award: Awarded to a Latin American film for outstanding achievement

•  Grand Jury Award for Feature, Short, Animation and Documentary

•  World Cinema Award presented to the most outstanding film in the international Focus,
this year, to an Asian Film

 

j) Can I have a reception for my film?

We do have 3 places to have small receptions. There is no charge for these spaces.

•  The VIP lounge holds about 40 people. Access is non-exclusive and only people with VIP
passes can enter (all DCIFF 2005 filmmakers, sponsors, and special guests...)

•  Tradeshow: The other space is downstairs, more private, holds up to 50 people. Access is
non-exclusive and only people with VIP passes can enter (all DCIFF 2005 filmmakers, sponsors,
and special guests...)

Terms & Conditions: Each filmmaker must make prior arrangements with DCIFF, at least
48 hours prior
to reception. There is a $50 maintenance fee . The filmmakers are
responsible for bringing the food and drink (no red wine) and provide the staff to set up,
serve and clean up.

k) Other special events for all filmmakers:

•  International Roundtable March 3: This is your opportunity to discuss with legislation,
incentives and discuss film industries around the world with leading government officials.

•  Advocacy Forum (National) March 4: This is your opportunity to discuss with legislation,
incentives in the United States with leading government officials.

•  Breakfast, Sunday, March6 (Regional) DC Filmmakers : Tell us what incentives or issues
you have when filming in DC and the area. You will have an opportunity to discuss with the
regions film commissions, permits and unions.

Location: City Museum of Washington , DC

The City Museum is located on K Street, NW between 7th and 9th streets, NW in the
historic Carnegie Library building at Mt. Vernon Square . The City Museum is directly
across the street from the new Convention Center.

 

Opening Night: Avalon Theatre 5612 Connecticut Avenue, NW

Transportation:

 

Riding the Metro:

We recommend taking the Metro. Use Metro's RideGuide for specific directions using Metrorail or Metrobuses.

 

Metro (red, yellow, and green lines).

Red Line to Gallery Place/Chinatown: Exit 7 th street / Chinatown exit, walk 2 blocks north

Yellow and green lines: Mount Vernon Sq/7th St-Convention Center Metro Station, walk 1 block south.

Parking:

There is no on-site parking at The City Museum.

 

Street Parking: Limited street parking is available on 7th Street , K Street , and throughout
the neighborhood. Spaces are metered with a two hour maximum during day. Please note
that there are no spaces specifically reserved for handicap parking on the block immediately
surrounding the Museum.

 

Garages and Parking Lots: Several garages and parking lots are located within a 2 block
walk of the Museum. Parking fees range from $8-$20, depending on the time of day and
length of time parked. Located across the street from the City Museum , the Renaissance Hotel
has a parking garage at 999 Ninth Street, NW .

 

Accommodations:

The main hotel for all DCIFF 2005 filmmakers it the RED Roof Inn, less than 3 blocks from the
City Museum in the heart of Chinatown, and 1 block from all metros)

 

For DCIFF filmmakers and their families there is a special discount code: B254INDFLF which
entitles you to $99 per night throughout the festival.
